Panthers Baseball Takes First Victory in NACA Tournament

NACA Tournament: Panthers (Varsity) – 10         Hope Academy (Alabama) – 0

The Panthers roared out the gate quickly in their first game at the NACA tournament in Dayton, Tennessee besting Hope Academy from Pelham, Alabama 10-0 in five innings.  The big story to come out of this game was that starting pitcher Cal Hucks pitched a no-hitter against the overmatched team from Hope.  He faced twenty batters and struck out eight.  Hope base runners reached second twice but that is far as they went due to Cal’s dominant effort.  The Panthers scored three runs in the first inning; five in the second and three in the third to win the game.  The Panthers had eleven hits and were led by Anderson Blevins (three hits: triple; double; single and three RBI’s) and Clay Dickinson (two hits: single; triple and two RBI’s.  James Reed also tripled and had two RBI’s.  Daniel Barfield had a two RBI single.  The Panthers play again later today against Victory Christian from Gastonia, North Carolina.
