Panthers (JV) 6 Nations Ford 8
The Panther JV squad let a game get away from them that they had led after the first inning to the bottom of the sixth. JC Ellis pitched six great innings, striking out seven Falcons while allowing eight hits and six runs (four of which were earned). The Panthers had built a 6-3 lead through the 6th inning. They had done so by scoring four runs in the first inning and adding single runs in innings three and five. Jc Ellis helped his pitching cause by continuing his hot hitting by gathering three hits; knocking in one run and scoring two runs himself. Others with hits included Cole Plyler, Patrick Brunson, Cole Owens, Cal Hucks and Carson Floyd. The top of the 7th inning is where it got away from the home team. An error by a Panther infielder opened the inning and this was followed by two straight hit batsmen loading the bases. The Falcon third baseman then lined a single scoring two runs. The next batter hit a fly ball to center field which was dropped in an effort to make a quick throw to home allowing two more runs to score. The last run for the Falcons then scored on a wild pitch. The Panthers went quietly in the bottom of the seventh dreaming about what might have been and looking forward to their next game against the Augusta Crusaders this Saturday.
