JC Ellis extended his streak of scoreless innings pitched to eight in earning the win for the Panthers Junior Varsity squad in their win Tuesday night against the Lions for Augusta Christian.  JC went five innings while scattering seven hits.  He struck out four and walked one.  Anderson Blevins finished the game on the mound for PAC.  He gave up two hits and struck out one and kept the shutout intact.  The Panther offense got going early by scoring three runs in the first inning.  Cole Plyler walked, advanced to second on a wild pitch and was sacrificed to third by Anderson Blevins.  After a walk to Cal Hucks, both Cole and Cal advanced one base due to a balk by the Lion pitcher.  Cal Hucks then scored on a throwing error by the Lion third baseman.  JC Ellis then completed the scoring for the inning by knocking in Patrick Brunson who had reached via a walk.  The Panthers added a single run in the 2nd when Daniel Barfield scored on an infield single by Anderson Blevins.  In the 3rd inning, the Panthers plated three more runs.  The Panthers strung together three hits highlighted by Cole Owen’s double.  The home squad scored one last run in the 4th inning before the game was halted due to time restrictions allowing the varsity game to begin on time.  For the game, the Panthers collected eight hits.  Cole Owens and JC both had two hits.  Others with hits included Anderson Blevins, Cal Hucks, Daniel Barfield and John Edens.  JC helped his cause by collecting two RBI’s in his at bats.

A Panther power surge knocked out two banks of lights on Tuesday night before a game against the Lions from Augusta Christian was ended in the bottom of the 6th inning due to the lights going out.  In the 6th inning the Panthers pounded out seven hits only interrupted by a sacrifice bunt by Trevor Dacus.  The seven hits were highlighted by two triples and plated six runs to blow the game open.  The game started well enough for the Lions when they scored the first run of the game taking advantage of a leadoff walk and several stolen bases.  In the bottom of the 1st, the Panthers responded when a triple by Alex Blevins plated Josh Hanna who had reached via a single.  Alex later scored on an error by the Lion first baseman.  The Lions added two runs in the top of the 2nd when their left fielder roped a line drive homerun right down the right field line scoring two runs.  The Panthers responded in the bottom of the 3rd they began a rally after one quick out.  Josh Hanna reached via a single and then Alex hit his second triple of the game plating Josh.  Alex scored on an error by the Lion third baseman and Danny followed him home on a passed ball.  After a scoreless 4th inning, the Lions added a run on a run scoring single by their right fielder.  Once again the Panthers responded and scored three runs of their own in the bottom of the frame.  The Panthers only had one hit in the inning but the Lions helped them out by committing two more errors.  The Lions roared back to close within two runs in the top of the 6th when Panther pitchers issued two straight walks and Lion hitters followed those up with a single and a double.  The Panther power surge then put the game out of reach for the Lions and ended the game early.  For the game, Panther hitters collected eleven hits.  Alex Blevins led the way by collecting two triples and a single and two RBI’s and scoring three runs.  Jake Brunson chipped in two hits and Danny Morales and Jacob Cain both slammed triples.  Jacob Cain had two RBI’s for the night.  Sean West was the starting pitcher for PAC and went 4 2/3 innings.  He gave up four runs, three earned, four hits and five walks.  He struck out four.  Caleb Wilson relieved him on the mound and gave up two runs both of which were earned.  He also allowed two hits and two walks.  The Panther squad is now 6-4.
