PAC Girls Cross Country runner sets new record

By Michael Reed

The PAC girls 5k Cross Country team record was broken this year by Rosemary Reed. Rosemary first broke the record at Pelion with a PR of 21:10 breaking the old record of 21:13 by 3 seconds held by Alexa Goldbus since 2011. Rosemary then broke the record again at the Spring Valley race running another PR of 20:46. Again, Rosemary broke her own record at the Sandhills Invitational by running another PR of 20:02. In the final race of the year for the PAC team at the Independent Cross Country Championship held at Boiling Springs, South Carolina, Rosemary set another personal best and team record by running a 19:51 in the 5k race. At the XC team party Coach Bob Daley remarked that Rosemary is within “seconds” of being recognized on a National Elite status.

Independent Cross Country Championship garners awards for PAC

By Michael Reed

The PAC Panther Cross Country team participated at the Boiling Springs Cross Country Invitational this past Saturday, November 1st, 2014 on a brisk fall day. The day started out with snow and temperature in the 30’s in Columbia and wound up with a blustery low 40’s day in the upstate, but that proved to be an advantage to the triumphant Panther XC team as both the girls and boys teams placed 2nd in the XC State championship.

The boys team jumped out with a fast pace led by senior Daniel Reed who placed third overall in the boys race and ran a personal best time of 17:48. Daniel Reed and Zack Freeman finished in the top ten runners. The PAC girls were led by Rosemary Reed who paced the team to a 2nd place finish. Rosemary finished in the top ten girls runners placing second in the girl’s race with a PR time of 19:51. Congratulations to all the PAC XC runners this year
