PAC Basketball Month in Review – Varsity

The PAC Varsity Basketball enters the 2014 portion of their schedule with a
6-4 record.  They opened their December slate with a 63-37 loss to Heathwood
Hall.  Noah Wrobel led the Panthers with 14 points on 3-5 shooting from
behind the 3-point line.  Three days later, the Varsity Panthers opened
their home school portion of the schedule with a 46-41 victory over the
Greenville Hurricanes.  The Panthers closed the game with an 11-0 run to
seal the victory.  Jonathan Burke led the Panthers with 22 points and 7
rebounds.  Jacob Stevenson added 14 points, Wilson Marshall grabbed 9
rebounds, and Benjamin Fryer had 6 steals and 6 rebounds for the Panthers.
One day later, the Varsity Panthers traveled to Summerville and defeated the
Lowcountry Wildcats Home School team.  Burke scored 22 points while Fryer
added 8 points and 8 rebounds for the Panthers.  Joe Musgrove had a team
high 7 steals in addition to his 2 points and 4 rebounds.  Next, the
Panthers overcame foul trouble to hold on to a 59-58 victory over St.
Francis Xavier.  The Panthers were down to 5 available players when
Stevenson hit a free throw with less than 2 seconds remaining for the
winning margin.  With Burke absent, Stevenson led the Panthers with 22
points, 17 rebounds, and 6 assists.  Marshall added 12 points and 11
rebounds, Wrobel scored 15, and Joseph Unthank contributed 6 points and 7
rebounds.  The Panthers extended their win streak to 4 games with 51-46
victory over the Richard Winn Eagles in the first round of the Richard Winn
Christmas tournament.  Marshall had a career high 20 points and grabbed 13
rebounds.  Burke added 13 points and Fryer pulled down 14 rebounds for the
Panthers.  The Panthers were defeated in the Championship game by Ben Lippen
67-43 with Burke scoring 23 points in the loss.

All three of the Panther teams will be back in action on January 3rd versus
the Easley Guardians in Easley.
