The PAC Cross Country team wrapped up its season Saturday, October 31, 2015, running in the Independent Championship Cross Country Meet, in Boiling Springs, SC. The weather was damp and cold, the skies were very overcast. Zack Freeman, finished 6th, with a time of 19:00, leading our boys to a 1st Place finish, with a team score of 52. Rosemary Reed, finished 6th, with a time of 22:12, leading our girls to a 2nd place finish, with a team score of 64.
Annie Blevins, a veteran XC runner, was able to show Christian kindness to another runner at the Highlander Invitational (Heathwood). The other runner, Reagan, was a senior, in her last year of high school competition. She struggled through her last two seasons with asthma difficulties and was discouraged to finish her high school career in this way. Annie sacrificed her own time to finish the run with Reagan, sharing with her that having someone to run with was a gift of God, and encouraging her to finish the race. Reagan then shared her story with her teammates on the bus ride home. Annie finished the race, not as fast as she might have, but she made a lasting impact on the entire team from Westminster Schools of Augusta, to the glory of God.
Cross Country is a unique sport in that it is a team sport, but also an individual sport, in many ways. A cross country athlete must compete against him/herself daily, and by doing so strengthens the team. Coach Daley and Coach Fryer are very proud of the personal effort of their runners, and the team’s work ethic. Praise be to the Lord Jesus for sustaining the team through heat, and flood, and giving them endurance to finish well.
If you are interested in running cross country watch the website for practice starts dates. We begin practicing as a team in mid-July.
