Baseball Loses Two Against Hammond

The JV team lost 6-1 against the Skyhawks from Hammond on Monday night.  Jacob Cain pitched six solid innings giving up two earned runs but still took the loss.  He struck out seven while allowing six hits.  The Panthers were undone in the first when they got runners on 2nd and 3rd with one out and could not push a run across. In the bottom of the frame, the Skyhawks scored four runs taking advantage of two hits, an error, a hit batsman, a walk and a wild pitch.  The Panthers could only muster two hits on the night as the Skyhawks hurler kept them off balance all night with a good curve ball.  Anderson Blevins and Jacob Cain both had a single.  Cal Hucks got an RBI when he grounded out driving in Pat Brunson from third who had reached base on a walk.  The JV team is now 9-4-1.

The Varsity lost 10-in the nightcap.  Joseph Sightler pitched four innings giving up six hits.  The defense made five errors behind him accounting for the other Skyhawk runs.  Offensively, Jonathan Liva provided the only hit for the night.  The Varsity team is now 6-8.
