Panthers Fall in First Game at NACA Baseball Tournament

The Panthers lost their opening game in the NACA tournament in Dayton Tennessee. The game day venue on the first day of play for the Panthers was Rhea County High School. The game was scoreless through the first three innings even though the Panthers threatened but Clay Dickinson was gunned down at the plate in the second. In the top of the fourth inning, the Trailblazers broke the deadlock by plating three runs. They only had one hit but took advantage of three walks and one hit batsman. The Panthers clawed for their only run of the game in the bottom of that frame when Alex Blevins reached via an error and eventually scored on a single by Clay Dickinson (his second hit of the game). Both teams were scoreless in the fifth and sixth innings. The Trailblazers put the game away in the top of the seventh when they plated three more runs on two hits and three walks. For the game, the Panthers only had three hits (Blevins and Dickinson (2)). Jake Brunson started the game on the mound for the Panthers and pitched five innings. He gave up three earned runs on two hits. He walked five, hit three batters and struck out four. Clay Dickinson pitched the final two innings giving up three unearned runs. He allowed two hits and hit one batter. The Panthers are now 16-6 on the season.
