Panthers (B-Team) 17 Augusta Eagles 6
In the 2016 opening game for the Panthers B-Team baseball team, the Panthers roared out of the gate and to victory by beating the Augusta Eagles 17-6 in the first game of a double header played at River View Park in North Augusta. The Panthers scored four runs in the first inning to take command early. Will Owens led off the game with a walk. He went to second on a single by Andrew French and scored on a single by Billy Amick. Andrew scored on a single by Micaiah Hinkle and Billy scored on a groundout by Ethan Hucks. Justin Thurber continued the hit parade and singled to score Micaiah from second to end the scoring. The Panthers kept the Eagles caged in the bottom of the first and the Panthers added to their lead in the top of the second when Will Owens scored his second run of the game, after reaching on a single, on an error by the Eagle right fielder. The Eagles were scoreless again in the second inning and the Panthers scored six runs in the top of the third to essentially put the game away as they took a 11-0 lead. In the inning, the Panthers strung together four hits and took advantage of two Eagle errors and one free pass. The big blow of the inning was a bases clearing double by Billy Amick. The Panthers added four more in the top of the fourth, taking advantage of three hits, three walks and one Eagle error. The Panthers closed out their scoring by plating two runs in the fifth inning. The Eagles scored two runs in the third inning, two in the fourth and two in the fifth.
The Panthers were led at the plate by Will Owens (three singles), Billy Amick (one double and two singles) and Micaiah Hinkle (three singles). Will reached base all four times he was at the plate and scored four runs. Billy Amick had four RBI’s, Will Owens had three, and Micaiah Hinkle and Ethan Hucks had two.
Four different Panthers pitched in this game. Will Owens started and went three innings allowing four hits and two unearned runs. He was followed to the mound by Ethan Hucks (one inning; no hits and two earned runs), Cameron Duke (2/3rds of an inning, no hits and two earned runs and Samuel Reed (not hits or runs)

The Augusta Eagles turned the tables on the Panthers in the second game of their double header played this past Saturday at River View Park in North Augusta. After losing the first game by double digit runs, the Eagles flew to victory over the Panthers in the second game by ten runs. The Panthers started out hot once again by scoring two runs in the top of the first inning. Will Owens hit a single to begin the game and later scored on a passed ball. Cameron Duke was the second batter and he singled. He was injured sliding into second base and was replaced by Samuel Reed who later scored on a single by Billy Amick. Unfortunately, this is all the Panthers would score in the second game. The Eagles, meanwhile, plated three runs in the first; two in the second; two in the fourth and five runs in the fifth. After knocking seventeen hits in the first game, the Panthers were limited to six in the second. The Eagles only had six hits in their victory, taking advantage of four Panther errors.
David Hucks was the starting pitcher for the Panthers, lasting four and two thirds innings. He gave up five hits, walked five Eagle batters and allowed twelve runs only two of which were earned.
