The young Panthers cubs fell to 3-11 with a loss to Cardinal Newman on Monday night. Cardinal Newman jumped on PAC in the first inning by scoring three runs and never looked back. The Cardinals added a single run in the second inning and led 4-0 before the Panthers scored their first run of the game in the third when McKinley Proctor singled and scored on a double by David Hucks. The Cardinals scored their fifth and six runs in their half of the third and fourth innings. And then the fifth inning happened. It started out well for the Panthers as they came off of the mat in the top of the inning to get back in the game by scoring five runs tying the game briefly at six. McKinley Proctor led off with a single. David Hucks was hit by a pitch and Jackson Gleaton hit an infield single to load the bases with no outs. Samuel Leslie singled to score the first run of the inning and re-load the bases. Will Owens reached on an error to score another run and once again leave the bases loaded. Robert Hogg then doubled to plate two more runs but he was thrown out trying to stretch his hit into a triple. Seann Bryant drove in the last run of the inning with a groundout to short. The Cardinals recorded finally recorded the last out of the inning and came up to bat for their turn in the fifth and ended the game by scoring ten runs. The Cardinals had five hits in the inning but primarily benefited from wild Panther pitching. In this frame, Panther pitched walked six batters and hit another. The Cardinals scored five runs on wild pitches. The Panthers had eight hits in the game led by McKinley with two singles. David Hucks and Robert both doubled. The Panthers sent four different pitchers to the mound. Fourteen of the sixteen runs allowed were earned on eleven hits.
