Panther Baseball Falls in Double Header to Carolina Royals

The Panthers dropped a double header to the Carolina Royals in Fort Mill on Saturday. The first game was a close one throughout. The Royals scored two runs in the third and three in the fourth to put themselves in control of the game. The Panthers clawed back by scoring two in the fifth. Micaiah Hinkle singled and scored on a double by Alex McKay (Alex took third on the throw home). Alex scored when Samuel Leslie was hit by a pitch and got into a run down between first and second.

The Panthers scored their last run when McKinley Proctor singled and scored on a single by David Hucks.

The Panthers had five hits in the loss. McKinley had two singles and scored one run. Others with hits were David Hucks, Micaiah Hinkle and Alex McKay.

Micah West (2-2) took the loss pitching five innings. Micah allowed five runs (four earned) on seven hits. Samuel Leslie pitched a scoreless seventh inning.

The Royals easily handled the Panthers in the second game to sweep the double header. The Royals outhit the Panthers 10-3 in winning the game 9-0. McKinley, David and Jonathan Sarazen had the only hits for PAC.

Dan Beam (3-1) took the loss. He pitched three and two thirds innings allowing nine earned runs. He gave up ten hits and struck out two. Connor Shealy pitched the final third of an inning not allowing any runs or base runners.

Game Notes: Game (1) The Panthers had nine productive at bats falling short of their goal by two. The Panthers had six assists led by Caleb with four. The loss dropped the Panthers record to 9-4. Game (2) The Panthers had eight productive at bats. The Panthers had five assists and were led by Avery Blevins and Caleb who both had two. The Panthers are now 9-5 on the season.
