Panther Baseball B-Team drops Double Header Versus Low Country Wildcats

The Panthers B-Team lost a doubleheader against the Low Country Wildcats in sunny Charleston this Saturday.  The first game was a back and forth affair with the Wildcats prevailing on the strength of a strong third inning when they scored five runs.  The Panthers scored a single run in the second when Samuel Leslie reached base after being hit by a pitch, eventually scoring on a single by Robert Hogg.  The Panthers added three more runs in the third inning scoring McKinley Proctor, Jackson Gleaton and Will Owens.  McKinley, Jackson and Robert Hogg all had hits in the rally.  For the game, the Panthers pounded out twelve hits, they were just not able to string enough together.  Avery Blevins, McKinley, Jackson, Samuel all had two hits.  Robert Hogg had two RBI’s.  David Hucks pitched the first three innings for PAC allowing six runs, five of which were earned.  He gave up three hits, struck out four and walked four.  Jackson Gleaton pitched one inning allowing one earned run on one hit and one walk.

The Panthers lost the second game of the twin bill 1-2.  The Wildcats scored single runs in the second and third innings.  The Panthers scored their single run in the third inning.  Robert Hogg walked with one out, stole second base and advanced to third on a wild pitch.  He scored on a ground out by Avery Blevins.  The Panthers played solid defense in both games; they just could not generate enough offense and walked too many Wildcats. Samuel Leslie had the only hit of the game for the Panthers.  Whit Melnyk was the starting pitcher and pitched well enough to win the game.  He only allowed one earned run; giving up one hit while walking two.  He also struck out two batters.  The Panthers B-Team squad is now 1-2 on the year.
