Panther Baseball Advance to Championship Game at NACA Tournament

NACA Tournament: Panthers (Varsity) – 14         Rhea County Academy – 2

The Panthers beat Rhea County Academy 14-2 to advance to the NACA Division #3 championship game and improve their record to 20-6.  The championship game will be played at Bryan College at 12:45 on Friday.  The Panthers used the same formula that has served them so well so far in winning their first three game at the tournament.  That formula is good pitching and defense and excellent hitting.  James Reed started the game on the mound for PAC and pitched three innings.  He allowed no runs on two hits.  He also had four strikeouts.  JC Ellis pitched the final two innings for the Panthers surrendering the first two runs that PAC has allowed in the tournament.    He gave up two earned runs on two hits and walked one batter.  The Panthers remained hot at the plate scoring fourteen runs on eleven hits.  The Panthers scored three runs in the first inning; four runs in the second; three runs in the fourth and four runs in the fifth.  Six different Panthers had hits, led by James Reed who had a homerun, a double and a single.  He also knocked in four runs and scored three runs.  Clay Dickinson also had three hits; three singles and knocked in two RBI’s.   Pat Brunson had two doubles; four RBI’s and scored three runs.  Anderson Blevins had one hit and scored three runs.  Cole Plyler and Eli Williams both scored two runs.   The Panthers have outscored the opposition 42-2 so far in the tournament.
