JV Baseball Falls to Skyhawks

Panthers (JV) – 4              Hammond – 10

The Panther JV lost 10-4 to the Hammond Skyhawks on Monday night at Hammond. Hammond took control of the game early by plating three runs in each of the first two innings.  The Skyhawks had only three hits in these rallies but the Panthers walked four batters and committed three errors to help the Skyhawks along.

The Panthers scored one run in the third inning when Avery Blevins singled to score McKinley Proctor from second. The Panthers closed the gap to 6-4 by plating three runs in the fifth inning.  Caleb Green was hit by a pitch and Micah West singled.  Billy Amick walked to load the bases.  Caleb and Micah both scored on wild pitches and McKinley singled to score Billy for the last run of the inning.  Unfortunately, the Panthers could not keep the Skyhawks grounded and the Skyhawks soared for four runs in the bottom of the frame.  The Skyhawks had three hits with Clarke Anderson clubbing a two run double for the big blow in the inning.

At this point, the game was called so the varsity game could begin on time. The Panthers had four hits on the day.  Micah West had two singles.  Avery and McKinley had the other two.

Game Notes: The Panther JV team is now 3-7.  The Panthers had ten assists in the game with Whit Melnyk providing three and Caleb Green two.  The Panthers had fifteen productive at bats in the game which is one more than their per game goal.  McKinley and Micah had three apiece.  The Panthers left ten men on base and committed three errors.
