Barons Cage Panthers 11-1

Panthers (JV) 1                 Wilson Hall 11

The Barons from Wilson Hall in Sumter came to Columbia on Monday evening and handed the Panther junior varsity squad a loss 11-1.  They outhit the Panthers 12-2 and the score reflected it.  The Panthers scored their lone run in the last inning when Tyler Thomason reached on a fielder’s choice.  He advanced to second on a single by John Edens and moved on to third when Danny Waller was hit by a pitch loading the bases.  A walk to Cole Plyler scored Tyler from third but the next Panther batter grounded out to end the game.  Cole Plyler had the only other hit for the Panthers.  Wilson Hall scored three in the first; four in the third (which really put the game away); and four more in the seventh.  Baron pitching dominated Panther hitters striking out eleven on the night.  Three Panthers pitched on the night beginning with Danny Waller.  Danny went three innings, giving up seven earned runs and seven hits.  John Edens pitched two innings allowing one hit but no runs.  Carson Floyd pitched one and two thirds innings allowing four earned runs on four hits.  William Lawyer came on to get the final out using one pitch to get his batter to ground out to first.  The Panther Junior Varsity Squad is now 4-3 on the season.
