Panthers (B-Team) – 3 Orangeburg Prep – 4 (Game #1)
The Panther cubs lost a close game when the Indians from Orangeburg Prep scored single runs in the fourth and fifth innings to edge out PAC 4-3. The Indians scored two in the first inning to take the lead on two hits.
The Panthers fought back by scoring one run in the second when Billy Amick doubled and scored on a passed ball. They took the lead in the third inning when Samuel Reed was walked, advanced to second on a stolen base and to third on a passed ball and then scored on a groundout by Cameron Duke. Andrew French then reached on an error and scored on another hit by Billy Amick.
This is all the scoring the Panthers would do in this game but the Indians were not done yet. They scored a run in the fourth inning when an Indian batter reached on a walk and then scored on a double by their leadoff hitter (Layton). They won the game in the fifth with the Indians right fielder (Fogle) driving in the winning run.
The Panthers only had three hits, all by Billy Amick. Will Owens pitched three innings for PAC giving up two runs (one earned) on three hits. He was followed to the mound by Samuel Reed who pitched one inning, allowing one earned run on one hit. Billy Amick gave up the final run to Orangeburg Prep on two hits.
The Panthers (B-Team) are now 5-5.
Panthers (B-Team) – 6 Orangeburg Prep – 0 (Game #2)
Justin Thurber and Ethan Hucks pitched a shutout against the Orangeburg Prep Indians to secure a split of the double header on Monday night in Orangeburg. They only allowed two hits over the five inning game.
Meanwhile, the Panthers scored two runs in the second, three in the third and one in the fourth. In the second inning, Micaiah Hinkle stroked a single to left center to get everything going. He advanced to second on a groundout and scored on a single by Chris Johnson. Justin Thurber reached on a walk and later scored on an error by the Indian right fielder.
The Panthers added to their lead in the third led by the top of the lineup. Cameron Duke reached after being hit by a pitch. Andrew French singled and Billy Amick walked. Control problems with Indian pitching allowed all three runners to score on passed balls.
The Panthers scored their final run in the fourth when Chris Johnson singled, advanced to third on an error by the Indian centerfielder and scored on another passed ball.
