Panthers (B-Team) – 6 Wilson Hall – 10
The Panthers B-Team travelled to Sumter to take on the Wilson Hall Barons on Monday night. The Barons had two big innings in cruising to a 10-6 victory.
The Panthers started off on the right foot as Will Owens led off the game with a walk, eventually scoring on an Andrew French groundout. The Barons took the lead in the bottom of the first frame as they scored two runs on three hits. The Barons added to their lead in the third by plating another four runs on six hits.
The Panthers fought back in the fourth, scratching for three runs as the Baron’s helped them out by committing two errors and walking one Panther batter. The Panthers had only one hit in their rally. The Barons wiped out the Panthers gain in the top of the fourth frame by scoring three runs of their own on three hits.
Billy Amick led off the fifth inning with a double and scored later on a Baron’s fielding error. The Panthers added their last run in the seventh with Billy walked, stole second and third, and scored on a groundout to the pitcher. The Barons scored one last run in the bottom of the sixth on one hit.
Will Owens pitched three innings giving up seven earned runs. He allowed ten hits and struck out one. Andrew French pitched the last three innings, giving up three earned runs on four hits.
Game Notes: The Panthers had twelve productive at bats. The B-Team’s record is now 3-4.
